Over 69,000 trade visitors from more than 100 countries came to Düsseldorf from 12–16 April 2010 to find out about the latest machinery, systems and products from the wire, cable and tube processing industries. The response of the 2400+ exhibitors was positive everywhere. A good atmosphere in the exhibition centre halls, lively interest from buyers and the prospects of excellent post-show business characterised the mood at the two events.

wire & Tube are fundamentally "steel-focused" trade fairs. However, although aluminium processors are in the minority among exhibitors, the material is increasingly being used in the wire, cable and tube industries. This is evident from the interviews and discussions that ALU-TV® conducted with key representatives from the sector. The market participants interviewed are optimistic that aluminium and its applications will penetrate further areas.

wire 2010:

Exactly 1219 companies showcased their products and services at wire 2010. This represents an increase of 7.3% compared with 2008. High-profile German manufacturers of aluminium wire, e.g. Drahtwerk Elisental, Neuenrade and Gutmann Aluminium Draht from Weissenburg, showed their latest ideas and examples from their product portfolio. Wiring manufactured from aluminium and aluminium wrought alloys is employed in all sorts of forms for a varied array of applications where the specifically low weight, excellent corrosion properties and high electrical conductivity of the material are utilised.

Tube 2010:

A total of 1181 exhibitors came to Tube 2010. This represented a 13.1% increase in the number of companies exhibiting at the show compared with the previous event in 2008. The offer at Tube ranged from raw materials, tubes, accessories and tube manufacturing machines through to process engineering tools and accessories and I&C technology. Testing systems and special themes, e.g. warehouse automation and control and monitoring systems, rounded out the spectrum. The show successfully managed to keep a balance between traditional tube manufacturing, tube processing and new machining methods.

Important exhibitors from the aluminium sector included Alcan Decin Extrusions s.r.o. (Czech Republic), Hydro Aluminium Precision Tubing Lausanne (Switzerland), Standardmetallwerke Werl (Germany) and alutec Metallwaren from Sternenfels (Germany). In addition, various metal traders also came to showcase their ranges of aluminium tubes.
